Job market joke, healthcare bad, weather depressing: Redditor says moving to Canada was the worst mistake ‘Don’t fall for the dream they sell you online’

Redditor says moving to Canada was the worst decision of his life.

An NRI’s recent post against everything in Canada has left the internet divided as the user announced his decision to come back to India after seven years. The Redditor is a permanent resident of Canada but says the plastic PR card isn’t worth it. The post doesn’t mention any specific reason for leaving Canada, like job loss or anything else, but paints a grim picture of the country.“It’s insanely expensive: The cost of living is out of control. Rent takes up your entire paycheck, groceries are a luxury, and you’re basically just getting by, not surviving. You’re stuck in a cycle of working just to pay the bills,” the post said.“The job market is a joke: it’s incredibly difficult to find a good professional job. They’re always asking for the “Canadian Experience”, which is a polite way of cashing in on all your hard work back home. “Many highly educated immigrants end up stuck in survival jobs,” the Redditor said on the job situation in Canada.”The health care system has collapsed: good luck getting a family doctor. If you get sick, you have to wait hours or months in the ER to see a specialist. It’s scary how difficult it is to get basic medical care.”’The weather is depressing: winters are cold, dark, and they last six months. It has a serious impact on your mental health,” the person wrote, adding that Australia is much better, brighter and happier than Canada.“I’ve tried to convince myself that it will get better. I’ve booked my ticket and I’m officially going back to India. If you’re planning on immigrating, please think twice. Don’t fall for the dream they sell you online. Canada is not what it used to be, and for me, it was the worst move of my life,” the man said. Many social media users asked why Redditors realized all the negativity of Canada after getting the PR and how it would be better to go back to India. “It’s like buying a bicycle because your car has bad suspension,” one joked.“I have been in Canada for the last 10 years. I have had a successful career in IT and have built a net worth of approximately 1 million CAD (no real estate). I work in the IT department of a Canadian bank,” wrote another.A Canadian citizen who visited India learned about the experience from both sides. “If you’ve spent your entire life in a fast-paced Tier 1 Indian city like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru or Hyderabad and enjoy constant activity, nightlife and being around family, Canada can feel quiet and isolated. But if you’re looking for clean air, safe food, better public systems, a predictable work culture and a chance to live life independently, Canada still has a lot to offer,” the person wrote.
