When Zendaya got a rare ‘perfect’ from Nolan: What Tom Holland told India Today
Actor Tom Holland reacted to his co-star, wife Zendaya getting Christopher Nolan’s rare ‘perfect’ on The Odyssey sets during an exclusive chat with India Today in Mumbai. He said that Nolan’s praise for his performance was all the validation he needed.
During his global press tour, Christopher Nolan odyssey The team revealed that Zendaya was the only actor to get a rare ‘perfect’ from the filmmaker on set. While fans appreciated her talent, they couldn’t help but wonder how her husband and co-star, Tom Holland, felt about it.
Speaking exclusively to India Today during the Mumbai promotions of the film, Holland admitted that a perfect score would have been ‘nice’, but Nolan’s praise for his performance was all the validation he needed.

We asked if Zendaya had a bit of a competitive streak after receiving the coveted accolade, and whether she wished she could get the same accolade. Holland immediately blushed and shook his head dismissively, but co-star Matt Damon, who was also part of the conversation, jumped in and laughed out loud, saying, “There was that for me. I can’t speak for Tom.”
Reflecting on his experience working with Nolan on the film, Holland shared, “I got everything I needed from Chris as an actor. We’re really lucky at the moment to have really positive reactions to the film online, and I deliberately haven’t read them because I felt underserved by Chris during this whole process. He told me he was really happy with the work I did and that I brought Telemachus to life in the way he envisioned. That’s all I need.” And I’m very grateful for that.”
The actor admitted that it would have been special to receive ‘Perfect’ from Nolan, but he was equally happy that the honor went to his wife Zendaya. “A ‘Perfect’ on the set would have been nice, but it’s wonderful that it went to Zia,” he said with a smile.
Holland also considered odyssey Matters to him personally. Describing the ambitious epic as a turning point in his career, he said the film feels like the end of one phase and the beginning of another. “I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to work with Matt and Anne (Anne Hathaway) and Chris and the amazing crew odyssey. This film really feels like the end of the first chapter of my career. This feels like the last time I get to play a boy, so I’m really excited for what the next 10 years hold for me as an actor and a professional.”
Directed by Christopher Nolan, odyssey is a cinematic adaptation of Homer’s epic poem. The film stars an ensemble cast led by Matt Damon with other Hollywood stars including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal.
During their visit to Mumbai, Nolan, Holland and Damon hosted a special premiere for fans and members of the entertainment industry. He also visited popular food spots and enjoyed the local cuisine.
