Center asks states to take action on Diljit Dosanjh’s Sutlej screening: Sources
The government is considering legal action over the OTT release and public screening of Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Sutlej, which has not received certification from the CBFC. Despite the film being removed from ZEE5, community groups have continued to screen it in Gurudwaras, while a PIL has sought its reinstatement on the platform.

According to government sources, the CBFC had suggested 127 cuts in the film during the certification process. However, the manufacturers reportedly did not incorporate the proposed changes, and no certification was issued for Satluj.

Despite this, the film was released on Zee5 and has since been screened at several locations, prompting the government to investigate and possible legal action, sources said.
Sources further said that the state governments have been asked to take action wherever the film is being shown without the necessary certificate.

Meanwhile, a public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court demanding the restoration of Satluj on ZEE5. The petition alleges that the film was removed from the platform without any publicly disclosed statutory, judicial or government order and seeks its reinstatement along with disclosure of the reasons behind its removal.
