Must read

Trigger warning: This article mentions death.

Legendary filmmaker Clint Eastwood’s longtime partner, Christina Sandera, has died at the age of 61. The 94-year-old director announced his partner’s death in a statement. However, Sandera is not the only woman the director has dated; they have a long romantic history, including his two marriages. Here’s a timeline of Eastwood’s dating history, from Maggie Johnson to Sandera.

Maggie Johnson

Clint Eastwood met Maggie Johnson in May 1953 in San Francisco on a blind date arranged by a friend, although Johnson already had a boyfriend. “I was amazed at the way he looked. Also, he was simple, and that appealed to me,” Johnson told Schickel.

They immediately grew close to each other and continued dating even after Eastwood moved to L.A. in the autumn of that year. The couple married on December 19, 1953, just months before Eastwood’s daughter Laurie Murray, born from another relationship, was put up for adoption.

The marriage was not easy. Eastwood previously described their first year together as “terrible” because he wanted to do things “on his own”. They later had an affair in the late 50s and had a daughter, Kimber Lynn, born in 1964. Nevertheless, Eastwood and Johnson have two children together: Kyle, born in 1968, and Alison, born in 1972.

The two moved to Carmel-by-the-Sea, California with their children; however, the marriage ended in 1979 after Eastwood had an affair with Sondra Locke. Johnson received a US$25 million settlement following the divorce. However, the two reportedly remained friendly and vacationed together.

Roxanne Tunis

Eastwood’s relationship with Roxanne Tunis began while he was married to Maggie Johnson. The director’s affair with Tunis, a stuntwoman, began on the set of Rawhide in 1959 and lasted 14 years.

In 1964, Tunis gave birth to their daughter, Kimber Lynn Eastwood. Eastwood claimed he was unaware of Tunis’ pregnancy and only learned about it a year after Kimber was born. In Clint Eastwood: A Biography, he described the news as “a gust of wind”.

He arranged for Kimber to be cared for, but did not meet her often, only visiting her at intervals of three or four months. However, Tunis continued to visit him on set and in his office. To this day, the exact end of their relationship is not known.

Sondra Locke

Clint Eastwood first met actress Sondra Locke during auditions for his film Breezy in 1972. At the time, Eastwood was married to Johnson, and Locke was also married to her childhood friend. She didn’t get the role in the film, but they began a romance during the filming of The Outlaw Josey Wales in 1975, while both were married.

Later, as the relationship progressed, Locke moved into one of Eastwood’s homes. Despite rumors, they publicly denied being a couple. Eastwood and Johnson separated in 1979. Over the next decade, Eastwood had affairs with Jacqueline Reeves and Frances Fisher, and by 1989, he had reportedly put Locke’s belongings into storage and changed the locks.

Locke sued Eastwood for palimony, seeking $1.3 million and assets. They settled, after which Eastwood secured a development deal for her at Warner Bros. She received a home and was paid $450,000 with assistance. In 1995, Locke sued him again for fraud, settling out of court for an undisclosed amount in 1996. Locke died of cancer in 2018; she remained married to Gordon Anderson until her death.

Jacqueline Reeves

Eastwood met flight attendant Jacqueline Reeves while he was still dating Locke. The couple gave birth to two children during their relationship. In 1986, Reeves gave birth to their son, Scott Eastwood. Two years later, in 1988, she gave birth to their daughter, Katherine Eastwood. However, the details of their relationship are unknown.

Francis Fisher

In late 1988, Clint Eastwood met Frances Fisher during a pre-production party for Pink Cadillac. At the time, Eastwood was dating Locke and in the midst of an affair with Reeves. Fisher described their connection as love at first sight. “I saw so much beauty in his presence. And I felt like a big piece of the puzzle fell into place,” Fisher described meeting Eastwood in Clint Eastwood: A Biography.

Fisher told PEOPLE that they began quietly dating and living together, attending red carpet events and having “a lot of fun” by 1992. In August 1993, they welcomed their daughter, Francesca Ruth Eastwood.

However, their relationship broke down in late 1993 due to personal conflicts and when Fischer saw paparazzi shots of Eastwood kissing another woman. Fischer separated in 1995. Despite the separation, they remained on good terms, with Fischer later saying in a conversation with SFGate, “Love is forever.”

Dina Eastwood

Clint Eastwood met news anchor Dina Ruiz during an interview in 1992; he was still dating Fisher at the time. They met again at a local event in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Later, when he attended a function in Spanish Bay, a host asked him if he would sit with Ruiz and “we held hands and talked,” Eastwood told Carmel Magazine.

Eastwood proposed to Ruiz in September 1995, and they married in March 1996, which Ruiz described as her “dream wedding”. Their daughter, Morgan, was born in December 1996.

In 2012, the couple appeared on the reality show Mrs. Eastwood & Company, which Eastwood reportedly disliked because it “went against everything he believed in.” By June, their marriage was reportedly falling apart. Dina filed for separation in September 2013 and divorced in October, but the couple remained on good terms. Dina married her longtime friend Scott Fischer in July 2016.

Erica Tomlinson-Fisher

While Eastwood was still married to Dina, Erica Tomlinson-Fisher, who was getting a divorce from her husband Scott, visited Eastwood. Longtime friends Dina and Scott had reconnected, which caused Erica great concern.

Erica and Eastwood began talking frequently and began dating in March 2013. Although their relationship was not public, the Daily Mail had photographed them together in L.A. The details of when and how their relationship ended are not known.

christina sandera

Eastwood met hostess Christina Sandera after his split from Erika and they remained his companions until his recent death at the age of 61. The two began dating in 2014 after meeting Sandera, who was working as a hostess at Eastwood’s Mission Ranch Hotel and Restaurant in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. She made her red carpet debut at the Oscars in 2015, when his American Sniper won six Oscars. The two made numerous red carpet appearances but kept their relationship private for the most part.

“Christina was a loving, caring woman, and I will miss her very much,” he said in a statement released after Sandera’s death.
