Bad Newz box office day 1: Vicky Kaushal’s film makes a strong start, earns Rs 8.5 crore
Bad Newz Box Office Collection: Vicky Kaushal’s romantic-comedy has got a good opening at the ticket counters and has become his biggest opener.

Vicky Kaushal, Tripati Dimri and Amy Virk starrer romantic-comedy ‘Bad News’ has been well received by the audience. According to industry tracker Saknilak’s report, the film directed by Anand Tiwari has earned Rs 8.5 crore (early estimate) on its first day. ‘Bad News’ is produced by Anand Tiwari, Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Amritpal Singh Bindra.
The film got an overall 22.83 per cent Hindi viewership, with the maximum number of viewers coming in the night shows. ‘Bad Newz’ is expected to pick up pace on Saturday and Sunday and garner good collections over the weekend. Being the only comedy genre film currently running in theatres, it is expected to attract maximum family audiences.
‘Bad News’ is currently facing no competition at the box office. The films running alongside it have failed to perform well; Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sarfira’ and Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ have seen fluctuations in their earnings. His last theatrical release ‘Sam Bahadur’ (2023) grossed Rs 5.75 crore. ‘The Great Indian Family’ (2023) earned Rs 1 crore on its first Friday, while ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ (2023) earned Rs 5.49 crore on its release day.
However, ‘Bad Newz’ received mixed reviews from both audiences and critics. Tushar Joshi of India Today.in gave the film a 2-star rating, saying, “Bad Newz is like an Instagram filter that loses its shine after the first use. The surface is shiny and glossy, but there’s no substance to it that you can dig into. The writing is shallow and flat. The punches never land. The film even tries at satire and parody, but the jokes are so weak that they lose air before they even get started.”
