In one picture, Dhanush is seen shaking hands with the veteran actor. In another picture, Mammootty is seen cutting a big cake on the sets of Om as Dhanush and the crew clap for him.

Mammootty received the Padma Bhushan from President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 23, 2026. After the ceremony, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his actor-son Dulquer Salmaan.

PM Modi shared pictures of the meeting on his Instagram handle and wrote, “Met renowned actor Mammootty and his family after the Padma ceremony today.”

Mammootty’s filmography

Mammootty, 74, started his acting journey with an iconic role in the Malayalam film vilakkanundu swapnangal (1980) before continuing with a series of memorable performances. his success came with Sandhyakku Virinja Poovu (1983) established him as one of the leading stars of Malayalam cinema.

In a career spanning over four decades, Mammootty has worked in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films, and has earned widespread praise for his versatility and powerful performances. He has won several Filmfare Awards and National Film Awards, and was awarded the Padma Shri in 1998 for his contribution to Indian cinema. Widely considered one of India’s finest actors, Mammootty remains an enduring icon of Indian cinema.

Mammootty’s last theatrical release was the detective-drama, Patriot (2025), starring actors Mohanlal and Fahadh Faasil.
