Veteran actress Nafisa Ali Sodhi has shared videos of her journey at an altitude of 11,000 feet with family and friends during her cancer battle. The clip has again drawn attention to her recovery journey and her earlier account of the delayed diagnosis.

Veteran actor and politician Nafisa Ali Sodhi, who was diagnosed with stage 3 peritoneal and ovarian cancer in 2018 and was in remission until last year when she said the disease came back, has shared videos of a trek she did with friends and family. The clip, shot at an altitude of 11,000 feet, has been widely circulated online and has drawn attention to his recovery journey during his cancer battle.

In the video, Nafisa Ali said that walking out after surgery and chemotherapy made her feel “brand new”. The post also focused on what he previously said about his cancer diagnosis, including the difficulties doctors had in identifying the disease despite persistent symptoms.

In a video, he wrote, “Trekking at a height of 11,000 feet for a super picnic with friends and family. My son-in-law and grandson helped me as they helped me get to the track. It made me feel brand new after surgery and multiple chemotherapy.”

In another she said, “At an altitude of 11,000 feet – near Rohtang – with Adil (my son-in-law) and Aamir pushing me on the rocks, I finally reached the car. It was so much fun.” Describing the landscape he said, “After crossing the Atal Tunnel, we had a picnic lunch at a place called Sissu at an altitude of 11,000 feet. It was a wonderful experience.”

In earlier conversation with till fitNafisa Ali talks about her struggle to get diagnosed. He said doctors were initially unable to identify the disease despite his symptoms, which led to late diagnosis. “I knew my stomach pain was cancer, but doctors couldn’t make a diagnosis and it progressed to Stage 4,” he said.

Recalling that period, Nafisa described talking to her doctor upon returning to Delhi two months later, in which he insisted that the initial diagnosis was wrong. The experience was extremely emotional, causing her to cry and demand that the medical team take her frequent seizures seriously. It was only when he began experiencing severe pain near his appendix that doctors finally stepped up their investigation. “I told the doctor, ‘I’ve got appendicitis, and you all have me wrong.’ That’s when the doctors finally woke up and paid attention,” the 69-year-old added.

Nafisa Ali is a former beauty pageant winner and national swimming champion, and is known for films including Passion (1978), Major sir (1998), unfaithful (2005), Life in a…Metro (2007) and Mad Crazy Mad (2011). He has also shared screen space with other actors including Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.

The veteran actor’s last theatrical release was director Sooraj Barjatya’s height (2022).
