The film will narrate the pivotal chapters of Murmu’s life, including the personal tragedies, challenges and setbacks he faced before entering public life and ultimately rising to the presidency. It will also explore his years in public service, and take a closer look at the resilience and determination that shaped his leadership.
The documentary continues Aamir Khan Productions’ long-standing interest in telling stories based on real-life experiences and social change. Over the years, the production house has supported a number of projects that highlight human stories while encouraging broader conversations on issues of public importance.
The project reunites the banner with Swati Chakraborty Bhatkal, who previously directed face to face light2019 documentary anthology produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. Narrated by Aamir Khan, the film explored real-life stories of violence, grief, forgiveness and reconciliation, earning praise for its empathetic and nuanced storytelling.
To recreate important moments of Murmu’s early life, parts of the documentary have reportedly been filmed in his native village in Odisha. Local actors have been chosen to portray various stages of his life, while the filmmakers are expected to combine dramatic recreations with archival material and real locations to present a detailed account of his visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Apart from documenting Murmu’s personal story, the film will also examine the broader significance of his election as President. Her rise to the country’s highest constitutional post has been widely considered a watershed moment for tribal communities, women and historically underrepresented groups, making her journey one of the defining political stories of contemporary India.
