Actor Vishal on Tuesday said the money he received for a bouquet and shawl for Chief Minister Vijay was used for the education of three underprivileged girls in Tamil Nadu after the chief minister refused to accept the gifts. In a post on X, Vishal described the meeting as warm and personal and said the moment of addressing the Chief Minister as ‘darling’ was special for him.

In the post, Vishal said he knew him since his Loyola College days, when he was a rising star, and since then he had watched him climb the ladder as a “superstar”, facing criticism quietly and with success, before becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He said that though “the posting and designation have changed”, the person has not changed, and said the same warmth was reflected in his meeting with him again.

Vishal also mentioned a line of political and personal relationships in his post, writing, “From #Kalaignar Ayya to #Jayalalitha Amma, #Stalin uncle to my own #Uday, it felt great to call our state CM (sic) darling.” He further said that ‘the fanboy moment in me will always remain.’

Thanking the Chief Minister for the gesture of not accepting the mandatory bouquet and shawl, Vishal said he had used the money “to educate three deserving underprivileged girls in TN on your behalf and in your name.” He wrote that the girls will be proud and will always remember him.

He concluded the post by once again thanking the Chief Minister, wishing him positivity and development and saying that he was looking forward to “the best of Tamil Nadu” during his tenure.

On Monday, Vijay also met actors Simran and Silambarasan at his political party headquarters in Chennai. Ever since Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, actors, filmmakers, producers and many industry colleagues have been coming to congratulate Vijay on his historic victory in his first election as the head of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK).
