Why did Anant Shriram question the apology?
Addressing the controversy, Sriram argued that a character’s behavior is shaped by the imagination and creative vision of the director. He suggested that filmmakers should have the freedom to portray characters as they see fit without facing undue restrictions.
“A character behaves a certain way because he is the imagination of the director. It is a character created from that imagination. If a director is not even given the freedom to portray a character in that way, what have we done to creativity?” He said.

According to Sriram, limiting the way characters are written or portrayed can ultimately stifle artistic expression.
