US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested an Indian national in California who was wanted in Germany for attempted murder, according to a public statement from ICE San Francisco.Sandeep Singh, 40, was taken into custody in Fairfield, California, after entering the US illegally from Mexico in 2023, the agency said. He is currently being held in ICE custody while immigration proceedings continue, which will determine whether he will be deported.In a post shared on X, ICE San Francisco said: “ICE San Francisco arrested Sandeep Singh, 40, illegal alien from India, in Fairfield, CA. Singh entered the US illegally From Mexico in 2023. Singh is wanted in Germany for attempted murder. “He remains in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.”Authorities have not publicly provided additional details about the German warrant or the underlying case.ICE has also detained several other Indian nationals in separate enforcement actions across the US in recent years, primarily involving individuals with prior criminal records or pending removal orders.New Jersey caseIn Newark, New Jersey, ICE detained an Indian national, identified as Ubaidullah Abdulrashid Radiowala. ICE said he was placed in removal proceedings based on his criminal record.California caseIn Los Angeles, California, ICE arrested Parminderpal Singh in early 2026. Authorities described him as an Indian national with a long criminal history, including violent crimes such as robbery and assault-related charges. He was taken into immigration custody pending deportation proceedings.pennsylvania caseIn Pennsylvania, Subramaniam “Subu” Vedam, an Indian-born man who had been in the US since childhood, was previously convicted of first-degree murder in 1983 and spent more than four decades in prison. After his conviction was overturned in 2025, ICE again took him into custody based on a prior deportation order related to his earlier case. He remains in immigration detention pending further proceedings.
