Rs 3,300 for a movie ticket? Odissi mania is already taking over India
Advance booking for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has started across India and IMAX ticket prices have reached as high as Rs 3,300 in some cities. Despite the hefty rates, many shows sold out within minutes, leading to debate and excitement online.

In Mumbai and Pune, premium seats cost up to Rs 3,000, with some late-night shows in Mumbai costing up to Rs 3,300, making them some of the most expensive cinema tickets currently on sale in the country.

Higher rates did not slow demand. Many shows saw brisk booking, with seats disappearing within minutes. At the same time, the huge difference in prices in different cities sparked online debate, with many fans questioning why the same movie experience could cost several times more depending on the city and show time.
Some also pointed out that although the film was shot entirely using IMAX cameras, most theaters in India are not equipped to screen it in IMAX 70 mm, the format closely associated with Nolan’s films.
Fans reacted strongly to X as soon as booking began. One user wrote, “#the odyssey Highest ticket price ever seen in India – ₹3000 at Pune IMAX. Christopher Nolan is a huge brand here! (sic).”
Another user said, “The madness of odyssey This is madness in India… Tickets were sold out within minutes… This happens when actors and directors don’t come to India for promotions. This is Christopher Nolan’s legacy: The name is enough to sell tickets.”
Another user posted, ‘Today PVR and Cinepolis turned Pune into Monaco.’
The fourth user wrote, ‘odyssey Tickets are being sold in India for Rs 3,200 and the most incredible thing is that they are being sold out within minutes. Unimaginable madness for Nolan (sic).’

Written and directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan, the film is based on Homer’s epic story of King Odysseus of Ithaca and his perilous journey home after the fall of Troy. Matt Damon plays Odysseus, Tom Holland plays Telemachus and Anne Hathaway plays Penelope.
The cast also includes Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal. Material released for the film identifies Pattinson as Antinous, Zendaya as Athena, and Theron as Circe.
odyssey The film is Nolan’s 13th feature film as director and is produced by Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan under their banner Syncopy. This film is going to be released on 17th July.
