US President Donald Trump on Sunday stressed the conditions surrounding the Iran peace deal, saying that no sanctions or asset freeze will be lifted until a peace deal is reached. In a recent interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Trump, when asked whether he would consider freezing assets sooner rather than later, responded, “Yes. If they behave, if they do a good job, then we start talking. Yes.” Trump also said he was not demanding that Lebanon be part of any short-term deal with Tehran. The comments came after Trump previously predicted the conflict would end “very quickly” given the 100-day mark. While a ceasefire took effect on April 8, full negotiations have repeatedly stalled, and a permanent agreement remains elusive.Meanwhile, earlier on Friday, Trump had said Iran had not yet agreed to a US-backed resolution aimed at ending the conflict, and blamed the delay in resolution on the country’s leadership.“They are strong, they are proud, there are things they never thought they would do and they have to do. They have no choice and it takes a while,” Trump said. The US President argued that Iran has acted for decades without facing adequate consequences and said the issue should have been addressed long ago.He said, “You’re talking about getting away with what you wanted for 47 years. This should have been done a long time ago. This should have been done by other presidents or other countries.”
