Candace Owens says she has no plans to run for president in 2028, but she already knows who she’ll support if the campaign takes shape. Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia on June 4, Owens publicly endorsed Tucker Carlson, whom she would like to see run for president. The podcast host made the comments during an interview with former CNN anchor Rick Sanchez, who now lives in Moscow. Owens was attending the event along with several celebrities, including Steven Seagal and Andrew Tate. When Sanchez speculated about his political future, Owens immediately dismissed the idea. She said she had little interest in working within the traditional political system and joked that she would rather be a dictator than president.Owens said, “I always tell my listeners I would never run for president, I would only run for dictator, because I’m not working with Congress, I’m not working with lobbying, I’m not working with any of that, I’m not working with Lindsey Graham calling for another war.”“I would just say, ‘Here’s what we’re doing and here’s what we’re not doing.’ So I say to them, vote for me if the conditions are acceptable: that I will be the dictator of the United States, and that’s it,” she added.

Taking himself out of the presidential race, Owens made it clear that he would have Tucker Carlson’s support if he decided to enter politics.Owens said, “In the short term, I’m really not interested in running for office because there’s too much inauthenticity, plus, you know, the big disappointment of Trump.”He then explained why he thinks Carlson could be a strong candidate.“However, I would be interested in getting behind someone like Tucker Carlson solidly. would you? I will. And so I would love for him to run, and I would create that dynamic that Charlie and I had and run to help him get elected,” Owens said.Owens also talked about the late Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was murdered in September 2025. She praised Carlson and Megyn Kelly while discussing the people she trusts following Kirk’s death.Owens said, “I would also say to Megan Kelly, who told the truth about changing Charlie’s approach toward the end – that just made me commit more.”Speaking about Carlson, she said, “He’s also in a great place in his life. His kids are grown. I would gratefully support a guy like Tucker Carlson.”However, Carlson has repeatedly downplayed the discussion of the presidential campaign. In a recent interview with The Economist, he said he had “certainly no interest” in seeking the Republican nomination. He also told Piers Morgan that he finds politics “disgusting” and that “coalition building” is not something he enjoys.Nevertheless, prediction market Polymarket recently showed his chances of winning the 2028 Republican presidential nomination at around 10%, keeping his name in the conversation despite recent public reluctance.
