Kari Barker expands her world of obsession with new film Anything But Ghosts
Kari Barker has stated that Anything But Ghosts is set in the same universe as Obsession. The new film makes a direct reference to Nikki’s fate, connecting both stories.
Filmmaker Kari Barker is already looking forward to her next project. The 26-year-old has revealed this anything but ghostsHis upcoming horror feature, set in the same universe PassionMaking a direct connection between the two films.
Speaking during a recent post-screening Q&A PassionBarker confirmed that the new film will reference the events of his current release, including the fate of one of its central characters.

“There’s something like a news article in the next movie where you hear a news anchor talking about a triple murder by a woman,” Barker said, hinting at how the connection will be woven into the story.

The context appears to point to climate related events Passion. In the film’s final act, Nikki, played by Andy Navarrete, is driven to deadly violence after falling under the spell of Bear, played by Michael Johnston. Although the spell is eventually broken after Bear’s death, Nikki has already killed her friends Sarah and Ian, played by Megan Lawless and Cooper Tomlinson.
Barker’s next feature, anything but ghostsFollows two con artists who pose as paranormal investigators but find themselves facing a real supernatural threat. The film marks Barker’s latest collaboration with Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster.
Barker wrote the screenplay with Tomlinson and will also direct and star in the film. The cast includes Aaron Paul, Bryce Dallas Howard and Violet McGraw.
Although plot details have been kept under wraps, Barker’s latest comments confirm it anything but ghosts There will be no standalone story. Instead, it will expand the world presented PassionWith at least one direct reference connecting the two films.
