The Voice of Hind Rajab, the film that depicts the tragic murder of a Palestinian child during the Israel-Gaza conflict, has finally received its censor certificate in India after months of delay.

hind ki awaaz rajabThe Oscar-nominated true story about the killing of a five-year-old Palestinian girl by Israeli forces in Gaza has received a censor certificate, paving the way for its theatrical release on June 19.

The film was initially scheduled to release in India in March, but got stuck with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the body that certifies theatrical releases.

Nominated in the Best International Film category at the 98th Academy Awards, the film was acquired by distributor Manoj Nandwana of Jai Vitra Entertainment Limited for release in India as well as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

“We would like to begin by expressing our heartfelt gratitude to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), India, for providing the certification without any cuts. hind ki awaaz rajab And to enable Indian audiences to connect with this important cinematic work.

We appreciate the thoughtful consideration taken by the CBFC in evaluating the film and facilitating its release in India,” Nandwana said in a statement on Tuesday.

Directed by Tunisian filmmaker Kouthar Ben Hania, the film highlights the tragic story of Hind Rajab, whose killing during the Israel-Gaza war sparked international outrage.

Hind Rajab was fleeing Gaza City with her family in January 2024 when her car was fired upon by Israeli forces, killing all her relatives. When emergency services run by the Palestinian Red Crescent tried to contact the people in the car, Rajab picked up the phone and pleaded to be rescued.

The bodies of Rajab and his family and two rescue workers were later found within meters of each other. Haniya chose actors to play real-life Palestinian Red Crescent members but used Rajab’s actual voice recordings to tell the painful true story.

in an interview with PTI In March, Hania said that she had secured funding for another film when she first heard Rajab’s voice snippets on social media and that it changed her direction.

“When I heard the sound of Hind Rajab, it was so powerful and it put me in a state of anger and sadness. I couldn’t unhear it and go on with my daily life. So I stopped the second film. I said, ‘No, this is not the time to do this. Because doing nothing was like getting involved in this war crime. So I did it in this spirit, but also out of anger and out of emergency,” Hania said in the interview.

He said, “You know, we can’t live in a world where if you have the biggest gun, you rule the world. That’s not possible and it’s not good for our children.”
