The makers of Cocktail 2 released the trailer of the film at an event in Mumbai on Tuesday. The video gives a glimpse of the modern love triangle directed by Homi Adajania and starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. As the trailer suggests, the film offers a story of romance, friendship and heartbreak against the backdrop of beautiful Italian locations.

The three-minute long video also brings back memories of the original Cocktail (2012), which starred Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.

Shahid, who plays a young man who seems to be torn between dating a friend and going on a date, sets the tone for the film right at the beginning of the trailer. In a Hindi voiceover he says, “Whenever there is a new relationship, it is exciting because it is new. New friends are fun because their stories are fun for us.”

After this the story moves to Italy, where the three heroes are seen spending time together. While Shahid and Rashmika appear to share a romantic bond, Kriti’s character seems to be his close friend who gradually develops feelings for him, setting the stage for emotional complications.

As the story unfolds, tension increases between the two women as both are shown competing for Shahid’s affection. What started as a friendship slowly turns into a complicated love triangle, pushing the relationship to the brink.

In the final stages of the trailer, Kriti and Rashmika’s characters begin to clash with each other over their future with Shahid, leaving her character divided between the two.
