Big boost to Kollywood: CM Vijay allows 5 daily shows in Tamil Nadu theaters
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has allowed theaters to run five daily shows for seven days before the release of a new Tamil film. This order is expected to increase business in the initial week and theater owners are excited by this.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay issued an order on May 25 allowing theaters across the state to screen five shows daily for seven days from the release date of new Tamil films. The move is expected to give a big boost to the theatrical business, especially for big-ticket releases, which see huge demand in the opening week.
Currently, theaters in Tamil Nadu are allowed to show only four regular shows in a day. The fifth “special show” is permitted only during local festivals or public holidays, subject to the approval of the District Collectors or the City Police Commissioner in Chennai. The government will also have to issue a separate order to approve additional shows.
The decision has already sparked excitement among theater owners, distributors and fans, with many calling it a significant push for the dramatic culture of Tamil cinema. Extended show permissions are often linked to festival releases and superstar-led films, and the latest order is likely to benefit upcoming major Tamil releases at the box office.
