Actor Robert Downey Jr. weighed in on the ongoing debate over social media influencers and celebrity, criticizing the idea that influencers are the “stars of the future.” He said he did not agree with that approach and described it as “complete horse**t.”

“When I hear people talking about, ‘Oh, the stars of the future are going to be influencers’, I say, ‘I don’t know what world you live in, but I think that’s absolutely right’,” he added.

Downey Jr., who has 58.1 million followers on Instagram, said his own social media following was largely built during his tenure as Tony Stark or Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
