Robert Downey Jr. refuses to consider influencers as future stars, avoids ‘rabbit hole’
Actor Robert Downey Jr. has rejected the idea that social media influencers are the stars of the future. He said that people can now become celebrities without doing anything other than calling themselves a celebrity.
Actor Robert Downey Jr. weighed in on the ongoing debate over social media influencers and celebrity, criticizing the idea that influencers are the “stars of the future.” He said he did not agree with that approach and described it as “complete horse**t.”

“When I hear people talking about, ‘Oh, the stars of the future are going to be influencers’, I say, ‘I don’t know what world you live in, but I think that’s absolutely right’,” he added.
Downey Jr., who has 58.1 million followers on Instagram, said his own social media following was largely built during his tenure as Tony Stark or Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also said that, over the years, he has met many influential people during the promotions of films and has found many of them down to earth, accomplished and successful. “Really nice people.”
