Exclusive: David Dhawan responds to trolls criticizing Varun Dhawan for Border 2: ‘Everything went upside down, right?’

Varun Dhawan’s last film, Border 2, became a huge commercial success. But during the release of the film, the actor had to become a victim of a lot of trolling and negativity. Varun Dhawan was criticized a lot before the release of Border 2. However, the industry came out in support of the 38-year-old actor. Now, David Dhawan has reacted to the negativity saying that all the trolling stopped after the film became a huge success at the box office. Mocking the trolls, the veteran filmmaker said, “Lekin kya hua? Sab ult gaya na! (But what happened? Everything fell flat!)”

When asked what advice he has given to his son, the senior Dhawan shared, “Today, everything is work. I told him that it will come to an end. Kuch di baar ye log bolenge ki ye toh bahut achhaa hai. (After a few days, these will be the only people who will say that Varun is very good.)”

Perform in the 2026 epic war film. He said, “I liked her last picture so much. Her work in Border 2… I even cried so much because of her work in her picture.”

Sharing what he feels about the way Varun has evolved as an actor, the partner helmer revealed, “Definitely, he has improved and is on the right track. And he knows the value of his work. (And he knows the value of his work). He respects the people around him. He is very careful and tries to give his best.”

On the work front, Varun will next be seen in his upcoming film, Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Ha. The romantic-comedy film stars Mrunal Thakur, Pooja Hegde and Sreeleela in the lead roles.
