Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games It will run from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Over the course of two 15-day periods, Paris 2024 will serve more than 13 million meals – the largest event catering operation in the world. Athletes will eat primarily at the Paris 2024 Olympic Village, which will become “the world’s largest restaurant, offering all types of cuisine to meet the nutritional needs and cultural habits of 15,000 athletes from 208 regions and countries,” says the official website of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 52-acre village features 15 different dining venues. The main dining hall will be open 24 hours a day and is being called one of the world’s largest restaurants with 3,500 seats. The site includes a salad bar, grill, cheese station, bakery, hot food buffet, fruit bar and dessert bar. The condiment bar has 85 different options.

1. French: Veggie Bourguignon and Brandade de Moreau (Salted Cod and Potato Mash)

2. Asian: Minced pork with Thai basil and basmati rice and baked potatoes with cauliflower and turmeric

3. African Caribbean: Stir-fried Shrimp with Bell Pepper, Onion, Tomato and Pepper Stir Fry and Chermoula Sauce

4. World cuisine: Lamb and Mint Jus Reduction and Veggie Moussaka

Food items typically in demand by athletes that will be available in abundance include white meat, rice, red meat, nuts, yogurt, whole grain bread or pasta, fruit, vegetables and electrolyte-rich fluids. All meat, milk and eggs will come from France. The only items coming from abroad are bananas (3 million), coffee (27 tons) and chocolate, reports Delish.

There is another authentic French element in the village: there is a bakery in the village which offers workshops on making baguettes, croissants and other pastries.

Paris 2024 is increasing its environmental and social ambitions, including doubling the use of plant-based foods, halving the amount of single-use plastic in the consumption phase, limiting food waste and recycling 100 percent of leftover food. For the first time at the Olympics, the main hall is filled with 47,000 reusable plates instead of disposable ones.
