Google is holding a hardware launch event on August 13, two months ahead of its usual schedule, and the Pixel 9 family is expected to be revealed on the occasion. This will be the biggest Pixel series ever, with the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold giving you more high-end options than ever before.
Pricing for all of these devices has leaked in France today, so let’s take a look. The Pixel 9 is said to come in Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white), Cosmo, and Mojito – since Mojito has a greenish tinge, we assume the Cosmo is the pink one that leaked last week.
The vanilla model will cost €899 with 128GB of storage and €999 with 256GB. The Pixel 9 Pro will be the same size as the Pixel 9 but with more cameras. It will start at €1,099 with 128GB of storage, go up to €1,199 with 256GB, and €1,329 if you need 512GB.
The top variant will only be available in Obsidian and Hazel colours, while the other two will also have Porcelain and Pink (Cosmo, is that you?) options, it’s reportedly said.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL will have the same internals as the Pixel 9 Pro, but will be bigger size-wise – it’s the true successor to the Pixel 8 Pro. It will start at €1,199 with 128GB of storage, and will cost €1,299 with 256GB, €1,429 with 512GB, and €1,689 with 1TB.
The 1TB version will only be available in Obsidian, the 128GB and 512GB models include Porcelain and Hazel, while the 256GB version is the only one that is also available in Pink. It is not easy for us to understand this strategy either, don’t worry.
Finally, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be the successor to last year’s original Pixel Fold. It will cost €1,899 with 256GB of storage and €2,029 with 512GB. It will only be available in Obsidian and Porcelain.
As with all pricing leaks in Euros, keep in mind that there may be minor variations across the EU due to different VAT levels, but if this leak is accurate, this is what you should expect as a baseline.
For reference, note that when the Pixel 8 launched, the 128GB model was €100 cheaper and the 256GB model was €140 cheaper. While the Pixel 9 Pro costs the same as the base model of the Pixel 8 Pro, the 256GB model is €30 more and the 512GB model is €40 more, and that comparison isn’t fair from the start – as we’ve already pointed out, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is the true successor to the Pixel 8 Pro, and with that in mind the larger Google non-folding flagship for 2024 is at least €100 more expensive than its predecessor.
Although these prices will not necessarily be directly convertible into another currency, it could be argued that prices that have not changed from last year for the EU will remain the same in other markets in 2023, and those that have risen will also rise globally.
