Malayalam director Ranjith suspended by film body for sexual harassment
Malayalam director-producer Ranjith Balakrishnan was arrested by the Kerala Police after a complaint of sexual harassment. Now he has been suspended by the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA).

Malayalam film producer Ranjith Balakrishnan has been suspended from the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) following his arrest in a sexual harassment case. The decision was announced by FEFKA general secretary B Unnikrishnan on Wednesday, with Asif’s suspension continuing until the organization completes its internal proceedings.
Unnikrishnan explained that FEFKA follows a standard protocol in cases involving allegations of sexual misconduct against its members. When a member is accused, they are suspended from the federation pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Kochi City Police arrested Ranjith on Tuesday night after a young female actor lodged a complaint alleging sexual harassment inside a caravan at a film shooting site in Kochi. The complaint was lodged a few days ago, after which an FIR was lodged at Vanita Police Station.
The case registered at the Ernakulam Women Police Station includes charges under several non-bailable sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). These sections include assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, sexual harassment and using words or gestures intended to insult the modesty of a woman.
According to the complaint, the actress alleged that Ranjeet attempted to sexually assault her inside a caravan at the shooting site on January 30. Following his arrest, Ranjit was produced before a magistrate and sent to judicial custody for 14 days. He is currently lodged in Ernakulam sub jail.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed under the leadership of Kochi City Police Commissioner to investigate the case. The team will investigate the circumstances of the alleged incident and record statements of people present at the shooting site.
