According to a report by Android Authority, Google Photos is on the verge of releasing a new feature called “My Week” that will allow users to share their weekly memories with friends and family. This upcoming feature is designed to compile users’ best photos and videos of the week into a single, shareable collection, making it easier to highlight adventures big and small with loved ones.

While the feature is not yet live in the current Google Photos version 6.90, a report by Android Authority reveals that they managed to manually activate the feature ahead of its launch, giving an early glimpse of its functionality. While such features don’t always make it to the public release, the manual activation and screenshots provided by Android Authority give a promising look at what users can expect.

If the feature does indeed see the light of day, the My Week feature will appear in the Memories carousel as a new tile called Introducing My Week. When users tap on this tile, a setup wizard will guide them through the process of choosing photos to share and inviting others to view their weekly memories.

Once setup is complete, the selected photos are displayed in a dedicated card within the Memories carousel. Users can tap on this card to enter the My Week section, where they can add more photos, view memories from the past week, and send messages to their invited contacts. This provides a personal and engaging way to share moments with close ones.

Recipients of shared weekly memories will see these in their own memories carousel. By tapping on the tile, they can open a slideshow where they can like the photos and leave comments. This interactive aspect ensures that sharing memories becomes a two-way street, encouraging greater engagement and connection between users and their loved ones.

Apart from the My Week feature, several minor updates have also been spotted. These include UI enhancements for the Places section, which now has a map at the top, and an update to the photo details view that shows if a photo is part of an album or memory. Also, it looks like Google is moving the Sharing Activity option to the Updates section for easier access, though users can still view their sharing activity through the app settings.
