Suriya starrer Karuppu is scheduled to release in theaters on May 14, 2026 after a long delay. Now, it appears that the film has bagged a huge pre-release deal of Rs 110 crore.
Did Surya’s Karuppu Baa get a pre-release deal of Rs 110 crore?
According to a report by Let’s Cinema, the producers of Karuppu has successfully sold music rights, as well as South and Hindi satellite and OTT rights. With these deals finalised, the film has reportedly grossed over Rs 110 crore.
Additionally, the theatrical rights of the film in the South region and overseas are also expected to be finalized soon. There is speculation that the film was made on a budget of Rs 130 crore. However, these are just news right now.

Karuppu is the story of a lawyer who gets possessed by a deity and fights against the injustice faced by certain sections of the society. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film stars Trisha Krishnan in the lead role.
Apart from the lead actors, the film also stars Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Shivada, Anagha Maya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu in lead roles. RJ Balaji will also play a cameo role.
Earlier there were speculations that the film would release during Diwali 2025. However, the release was postponed due to pending post-production work.
Recently, the makers unveiled the second single of the film, titled Nanga Naalu Peru, sung by Silambarasan TR and composed by Sai Abhyankar.
Surya’s work front
Suriya Venky will next be seen in Vishwanath & Sons directed by Atluri. The film is said to be an emotionally driven romantic drama, starring Mamita Baiju in the co-lead role and Raveena Tandon in a pivotal role. The film is scheduled to release in July 2026. Directed by Venky Atluri and composed by GV Prakash Kumar, the makers had recently unveiled its teaser.
The actor has also started work on a police action-comedy tentatively titled suriya47. The film, directed by Jeethu Madhavan, stars Nazriya Nazim in the co-lead role, with Neslen playing a pivotal role. There are also rumors that Silambarasan may play a cameo role in the film.
