amid the success of extreme revengeActor Gaurav Gera has shared an old letter from 1998 that he wrote to his parents during his early days as a struggling actor. The 52-year-old actor plays the role of Mohammed Alam in the film directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role.

On Sunday, the actor posted a handwritten letter on Instagram that is more than two decades old. The letter gives information about his struggles after moving from Delhi to Mumbai for acting.

a letter from the early days

In the caption, Gaurav wrote, “This letter to my parents – 3rd December 1998.. It’s been less than a month since I came to Mumbai. That’s 28 years ago… So no emails, letters.. Of course after that a lot of TV, a few films, ad films, musical dramas, radio, TikTok, reels.. it’s been a beautiful journey with ups and downs.. (sic)”

“God has been kind.. but this Dhurandhar.. don’t know what will happen in the future.. but I want to thank my 23 year old self for staying optimistic and Maa Pa for the endless support #DhurandharTheRevenge (sic).”

‘Nothing has happened yet’

Excerpts from the letters, written on December 3, 1998, show Gaurav talking about how he is waiting for things to materialize for him. It read, “Dear Mama and Papa, how are you guys? I am really fine here. Nothing has happened for me on the money front, but I hope I will do well soon. There is a lot of work here compared to Delhi.”

“In the morning, I meet different people for work, and in the evening I do my rehearsals. The play is a musical ‘Man of La Mancha.’ It’s a very famous musical, and it’s an iconic group to be associated with,” Gera added.

Life in Mumbai as a struggling actor

Describing his living situation, the actor wrote, “The place I live in is a small hut and it will be easy on the pocket too. If Rajesh and I share thousands of rupees, we can even pay 11 months’ rent at once. Other expenses include telephone, electricity, gas and water bills and food.”

He further wrote, “Mama and Papa, the future is bright, but I still have a lot to learn. It takes time to know the right people, so please understand. I will burn a hole in your pocket, but trust me, not for long.”
