Law enforcement officials confirmed that Nagaraju Balkam, a 26-year-old Indian national, was arrested earlier this month as part of a multi-day undercover operation targeting online child sexual predators. Balkham was one of four people taken into custody following a three-day operation conducted by the Santa Fe Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.According to police, the arrests occurred after detectives used secret online profiles and communication platforms to connect with individuals they believed were attempting to meet or exploit minors. As a result of the investigation, authorities charged Balkam with sexual exploitation of children by prostitution and child solicitation by electronic communication device.Balcum, who police identified as 26 and from Santa Fe, remains in custody pending further investigation. The other three suspects arrested in the operation were Eduardo Gerardo Ramirez, 59, of Santa Fe; Harold Lee Adams, 55, of Lubbock, Texas; and Tomas Tolcha Caczo, 29, of Santa Fe. All four face various charges related to child exploitation and seduction. Police described the undercover operation as part of ongoing efforts to identify and remove individuals attempting to commit online crimes against minors. The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit in collaboration with the Special Victims Team conducted digital conversations which led to the arrests.Authorities did not release detailed evidence or details about the online communications, citing the sensitivity of the investigation into alleged child abuse. Prosecutors with the Santa Fe office will file formal charges in the coming days as part of the legal process.Under New Mexico law, charges of sexual exploitation and child seduction carry severe penalties, officials said. He urged the public to report any suspicious online activity. Investigators said more arrests or additional cases may emerge as the operation continues.
