Exclusive: Dhurandhar: The Revenge to have its Hindi, Tamil and Telugu premiere on March 18; Malayalam and Kannada delayed due to censor issues

Indian cinema’s most awaited film, Dhurandhar The Revenge, is just hours away from its release, and social media is buzzing more than ever. The Aditya Dhar directorial starring Ranveer Singh in the lead has been trending for the last three months and finally the D-day has arrived. However, the news doing the rounds since morning has left fans a bit disappointed as some of the paid preview shows in Malayalam and Kannada are getting delayed. We have exclusively ascertained the actual reason for the delay.

A source shared, “Dhurandhar The Revenge was submitted to the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) two weeks ago, and had several screenings with the censor board in the above period. Despite the demand for an A-certificate, there were demands from the members for excessive cuts and muting of abuses. Talks between the CBFC members and team Dhurandhar continued for two weeks, though they have been given some leeway by suggesting that earlier it was the producers who wanted an uncompromising product. Struggled to deliver and negotiated.”

The source further said that the DCP delivery was delayed due to the arrival of Hindi certificates at the last moment and the regional censor certificates have still not been issued. “The premieres of the Malayalam and Kannada versions will hit the theaters only on March 19, 2026, while the preview shows of Tamil and Telugu have been delayed to 9 PM instead of 5 PM. However, the Hindi versions will start streaming at 5 PM only.”

Additionally, the source adds, “Shows of the dubbed versions delayed due to censorship issues are not cancelled. The Hindi version of the film will play on the available screens, and viewers can watch it with subtitles. If they do not want to watch the Hindi version, their tickets will be refunded.”

The much-awaited second installment, Dhurandhar The Revenge, backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, is set for a grand theatrical release on March 18, 2026.
