Academy ‘extremely upset’ after Teyana Taylor demands security at Oscars 2026
The Academy released a statement after Teyana Taylor reported being abused by a security guard at the Oscars. Both the academy and the security firm addressed the incident and promised to improve the guest experience.

Oscar nominee Teyana Taylor recently raised concerns about her treatment by a security guard during the closing moments of the Academy Awards ceremony, prompting responses from both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the associated security firm.
The incident was captured on social media footage, where Taylor can be heard objecting to the guard’s behavior and asking him not to touch or push her. In the clip she can be heard saying, “A man putting his hands on a woman, you’re so rude,” she added, adding, “He literally pushed me. Don’t touch me, don’t push me.”

Responding to the incident, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said it was “extremely disturbed” to learn of what happened. in a statement to Entertainment WeeklyThe Academy stressed that although an external security vendor was involved in the negotiations, the guest experience remains its responsibility.
“We have worked with Teyana over the past several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and community-minded,” the statement said. The statement said the behavior was “not acceptable” and appropriate steps were being taken to prevent a recurrence.
The security firm involved was Security Industry Specialists, Inc. acknowledged the incident and described it as a “brief conversation” that involved “casual contact”. The company said the situation does not reflect its professional standards and has been addressed internally.

He also clarified his playful onstage conversation with filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson while presenting Best Picture, calling it an “inside joke.”
