Nora Fatehi’s KD song removed after allegations of obscene lyrics

The makers of Kannada film, KD: The Devil, have taken Nora Fatehi’s song private after widespread allegations of obscene lyrics and scenes. The National Human Rights Commission has reportedly issued a notice to the filmmakers following the protests.

creator of KD: Devil Nora Fatehi has composed the song Sarse Ninna Serga Sarse (Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke In the Hindi version of the film), private on YouTube after severe reaction on social media. Apart from Nora Fatehi, the song also features Sanjay Dutt. The lyrics of the song are written by Rakib Alam and the music of the film is composed by Arjun Janya.

As soon as the song was released on the streaming platform, many users criticized the makers for its vulgar and obscene lyrics and visuals. Barely a day after the release of the song, the makers have removed the video. YouTube is now displaying a “Video unavailable. This video is private” message for the song.

Song Sarse Ninna Serga Sarse It is set against the backdrop of a dance bar, with Nora Fatehi, wearing a ghagra choli, dancing around men. The hook step of the song which included her pallu went viral online.

In particular, the lyrics and visuals came under criticism from many users. Many of them called it inappropriate and criticized the makers for making it contain provocative scenes and binary songs.

Human Rights Commission member’s response

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member Priyank Kanungo condemned the song and its content. On March 16, he was questioned about the song. To this he said, “Who can sit with his civilized family and watch this?” If reports are to be believed, the Commission has issued a notice to the makers on the basis of the song.

KD: Devil is a Kannada period action film directed by Director Prem. Set in 1970s Bengaluru, the film is likely to be based on real-life events surrounding a small-time criminal’s journey to becoming a gangster.
