Rajinikanth shares emotional note for late journalist KJ Kumar
Actor Rajinikanth shared his condolences for late Kannada journalist KJ Kumar on X. He described him as a dear friend who encouraged his acting career from the beginning.
Actor Rajinikanth on Thursday expressed grief over the demise of senior Kannada journalist KJ Kumar. The actor posted a message in Kannada on Instagram, honoring Kumar’s memory and highlighting the bond shared between them. Kumar died of a heart attack at a private hospital on Wednesday at the age of 74.
The Jailer actor’s ex post described KJ Kumar as an important presence during his career. He wrote, “Late KJ Kumar was my dear friend. He praised and encouraged my acting from the very beginning. He was very simple and always had a smile with everyone. I am deeply saddened by his passing. My condolences to his family.”

Kumar was a well-known figure in the Mysuru film industry and had built a reputation as a respected journalist in the Kannada community. Friends and colleagues have acknowledged Kumar’s contributions to the industry.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth recently completed the shooting of the film jailer 2Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. This film is going to be released after three years waterRajinikanth will be seen returning as ‘Tiger’ Muthuvel Pandian. The cast includes Ramya Krishnan and Vinayakan, while Shiva Rajkumar is confirmed for a cameo role. There is still no confirmation about the participation of actors Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff.
The cast has grown bigger for the sequel, with names like Jatin Sarna, Mithun Chakraborty, Santhanam, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vijay Sethupathi, Meghna Raj Sarja and Anna Rajan joining the cast. Famous actors like Shahrukh Khan, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vidya Balan and SJ Surya are also expected to be a part of the film. If reports are to be believed, Nora Fatehi can be seen in a dance number. The film is planned to be released in theaters on June 12.
Rajinikanth is also preparing thalaivar 173A project directed by Siby Chakraborty and produced by Raj Kamal Films International. Filming is scheduled to begin in April. Additionally, Rajinikanth will collaborate with Kamal Haasan on a project tentatively titled KHxRK reunionWhich will be directed by Nelson and Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music.
