Aamir Khan’s elder son Junaid Khan has recently made his debut with the OTT film Maharaj. Based on the Maharaj defamation case of 1862, this film is getting a lot of love and praise from cinema lovers.
The budding actor’s brother-in-law Nupur Shikhare is also among those who loved his performance as India’s journalist and social reformer Karsandas Mulji. Here’s what he said!
Nupur Shikhare reviews Junaid Khan’s Maharaj
Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, Junaid Khan’s debut film Maharaj is the story of an “unsung hero” and “a chapter of history” that has not yet been shown. Despite facing initial hurdles, the film finally released on Netflix on June 21.
Cinema lovers left no stone unturned in watching the film and praised the actors including Jaideep Ahlawat. When the paparazzi saw Nupur Shikhare, husband of Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan, they questioned him about Junaid’s first film.
When the paparazzi asked in Marathi if she has watched Maharaj, Nupur replied in the affirmative with a smile. The celebrity fitness trainer further said, “Beshak maala vatli (I liked it)” when asked how the film is. The shutterbugs also asked him how his wife, Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan is, and to this he replied, “Mast”.

Junaid Khan reacts on playing the role of Karsandas Mulji in Maharaj
Junaid and Siddharth spoke about the film in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla and shared their experiences while working on it. During the conversation, Khan said that people don’t know much about the personality of his historical character Karsandas Mulji.
“It is not really in the public domain. But we have his writings, his articles and his own newspaper. He wrote for Dadabhai Naoroji’s Rast Goftar and other newspapers,” Khan said.
He added, “It’s really exciting because you really get to know a person through how they express themselves.” Junaid also praised Maharaj’s co-writers Vipul Mehta and Sneha Desai, who have done an incredible job of creating such a powerful and impactful personality of his character based on their writing.
