Toronto police are investigating after shots were fired at the United States Consulate in downtown Toronto, Ontario early Tuesday morning, authorities said. Officers were called to the scene near University Avenue and Queen Street West at about 5:29 a.m. local time following reports of a firearm being fired at the Consulate Building.When police arrived, they found evidence that shots had been fired, and bullet holes were visible in parts of the Consulate property.No injuries were reported and no one was arrested. Toronto police said they have no information about a suspect, motive or possible suspects. Investigators remain at the scene and part of University Avenue is closed while the investigation continues. Police asked witnesses with information or dash-cam footage from the area to come forward.The US Consulate is located in a busy part of downtown Toronto, close to City Hall and the provincial legislature.The incident comes amid other security concerns surrounding US diplomatic sites abroad. On Sunday, an improvised device exploded outside the US Embassy in Oslo, Norway, causing no injuries but minor damage and Norwegian police still searching for a suspect.
