However, the screening was canceled at the last minute due to a committee member falling ill, resulting in the review process being postponed indefinitely. While the board and the producers are tight-lipped about the process, reports about the date and time of the screening are doing the rounds on the internet.

KVN Productions, the team that financed the film, reportedly received the official communication about the rescheduled screening on Sunday, but proceedings were once again delayed due to a sudden health issue.

The film, which stars Vijay along with Mamita Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Pooja Hegde and Narayan, has faced several hurdles since its initial planned release on January 9. The postponement of the certification review has added a series of delays to the much-anticipated project.

Jan Naygan-CBFC standoff

KVN Productions had earlier reported that the CBFC committee had assessed Jan Naygan in December 2025, after which they implemented the recommended edits. Despite compliance with these recommendations, a member of the original committee filed a formal complaint citing concerns over the depiction of certain religious sentiments in the film and the use of the armed forces logo without consultation.

This complaint prompted the CBFC Chairman to refer the film to a review committee for further investigation. When Jan Naygan The team went to court, trying to get a favorable verdict in a month-long legal battle with the CBFC. The film was not released for several months as a result of the ongoing review process, which attracted attention within the industry and among fans.

Amid these developments, the filmmakers recently submitted a letter to the Madras High Court Registry, demanding withdrawal of their legal case against the CBFC. The production company had filed an appeal in the court in January following the decision to send the film for review by the revision committee.

Desire Jan Naygan Release in June?

There is speculation about the re-release date of the film, with some reports suggesting that it may be scheduled for June, after the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. However, no official confirmation has been given by the makers regarding this timeframe.
