Weekly Survey Results: Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra have a fighting chance, S26+ is dead in the water

The Galaxy S25 series replaces the S24 series, which replaced the S23 series a year ago. In short, everything was going great for the S-series. But will its winning streak end this year? Last week’s poll certainly casts a shadow of doubt over the success of the new trio.

Let’s start with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is arguably the model to receive the most upgrades. The majority of people polled in the survey do not see it as one of the best flagships on the market. And most of those interested in S Ultra phones find older models more attractive because they can get them at a better price.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see the S26 Ultra become the most popular model of its generation – the Ultra has been the most popular model for many years – and we see it here too, with the largest proportion of positive votes and the fewest concerns over pricing. Still, it’s clear that enthusiasts are finding it hard to get excited about the new Ultra.

Moving on to the Samsung Galaxy S26+, let’s say Samsung was right to look for a replacement for the Plus model last year – the Edge wasn’t it, but the Plus is out of time and needs to be replaced with something. Although it found some supporters, it looks like the S26+ will be the least popular model of the three by a wide margin.

Above we said that the Ultra is arguably the model with the most upgrades, but one could argue that it’s actually the Samsung Galaxy S26 that has received the most upgrades. There have certainly been some much-needed upgrades to its battery and base storage, and the increase in screen size has leveled the playing field against the new crop of smaller flagships.

The biggest issue with the vanilla S26, according to this survey, is its price – but that will change once the first discount is applied. Over the past year, we tracked down a lot of good offers on the S25 from Samsung and third-party retailers like Amazon. The S26 will likely follow a similar path.

Samsung has its own foldable Galaxy Z series (new models coming in a few months) not only as a backstop in case the S-series declines in popularity, but as a true future replacement for the non-folding flagship. That said, the S-series is still a big moneymaker for the company and there’s a lot riding on the S26 models while Samsung (and the industry as a whole) braces for the impact of ridiculously high RAM and storage prices.
