Singer Harry Styles has released his fourth album, Kiss All the Time. At the Disco, Sometimes, last Friday, and the world is grappling with another interesting release. The 32-year-old’s tracklist, which includes 12 songs led by Aperture, has made fans think deeply about the meanings of her personal life and possible relationships. Hidden within the 42-minute sentiment is Paint by Numbers, which fans have linked to his romance with Olivia Wilde.

Paint By Numbers is the eighth song on the record and is a slow approach to their new release. It contains the lyrics, “Carrying the weight of those American children whose hearts you break / Was it a tragedy when you told him “I’m not even thirty-three””? This is being linked to his ex-girlfriend when she accompanied his children to his American shows of the Harry’s Love on Tour, as well as the 10-year age difference between her and him.
The American actress and filmmaker, and the English star, were in an on-again, off-again relationship for nearly two years from January 2021 to November 2022 after crossing paths on the set of the film Don’t Worry Darling, which Wilde directed and which stars Styles.
Fans have also linked much of the song’s lyrics to her personal life, such as the words on the bridge, “It’s a lifetime to choose from one or the other/The kids have water guns, look at them running.” The directors believe it is a nod to his late bandmate Liam Payne, with whom he often had water gun fights with fellow One Direction members.
Meanwhile, Harry Styles has spoken for the first time about his feelings following the passing of his dear friend and 1D partner. He recalled how difficult it was to fathom when it happened, as well as how the weight of others’ expectations about his grief weighed heavily on his shoulders.
