“I would say sour grapes. To be honest, I’ve never talked about it, but I’d like to put a stop to it. They wrote a script about kerala story 2Which was absolute garbage. And I didn’t want to make that film, and that’s why I made Kamakhya (kerala story 2 Director), “Shah said in an exclusive interview with India Today.
The producer further insisted that the criticism was baseless, noting that Sen was not involved in the research process for the sequel.
He said, “He doesn’t even know what research we have done. He was not a part of the entire research process. So, how can he make such comments? I don’t usually comment, but when someone attacks my film, that’s when I feel compelled to react. Otherwise, I don’t like to react. The film has been released, and I know the statements he has made are baseless. That’s all I can say.”
CBFC certification debate
Apart from the creative controversy, the film has also faced questions over how it got clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Shah rejected suggestions that the certification came after legal complications or was changed due to court proceedings.
“No, the certification of the film was done long before the case was filed, and that is exactly how the film is stuck. Whatever happened in the first court, the second court recognized the authority of the CBFC and their right to certify the film. So that first judgment has no meaning in this case now. The right and authority of the CBFC to certify the film is undisputed.”
Despite ongoing debate regarding its research and legal investigation, The Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond Now it has reached Indian theaters and has earned more than Rs 15 crore in 5 days.
