Last week, the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave ‘Indian 2’ a U/A certificate. The board had also made five changes in this film, which features one of Kamal Haasan’s best roles. Now, at an event, director Shankar and the Tamil superstar talked about the film and the censor board’s reaction to the ‘amendments’.

While promoting his film at a press conference in Chennai, the director supported the board’s decision to make five changes to the film. He said the board was concerned about the film’s accessibility to family audiences and hence suggested the changes. “The censor board asked for some changes because they felt it was a film that could be enjoyed by audiences of all age groups and families,” he said.

Shankar said that the board liked the film. He told the media that he also spoke to the producers about their interaction with the CBFC team and the response was positive. “Immediately after the screening, I spoke to them about the changes they made. However, later, it seems the producers spoke to them. Then they shared their opinion about the film. They said the film has been made well,” he said.

In ‘Indian 2’, Kamal Haasan plays Veerasekaran Senapathy, a freedom fighter turned vigilante who aims to eradicate corruption in India. The actor addressed the media at the same press conference and highlighted that the censor board members usually do not share their feedback with the film’s team, but they made an exception in this case.

“He (Shankar) sent me a message saying that everyone who saw the film at the censor board loved it. They (CBFC) usually don’t express their feelings about any film. They are quite cautious about feedback and usually limit themselves to formal greetings. However, they made an exception this time. They shared what they thought. I hope for more such moments for this film,” he said.

Earlier, a censor copy of ‘Indian 2’ was circulated on social media, showing the changes made by the board. This includes muting all the cuss words, removing the words ‘bribe bazaar’ and cleavage shots, and removing the word ‘dirty’ from ‘Dirty Indian’. The duration of the film is three hours and four seconds. Starring Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Nedumudi Venu, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Bobby Simha, the film is scheduled to release on July 12.
