Neil Sedaka’s family has confirmed his death. On Friday local time, it was revealed that the singer passed away at the age of 86. His family shared a note with TMZ the same morning to share with the world their loss following his hospitalization. He is best known as a rock and roll legend with appearances on TV shows and five Grammy nominations to his credit.
On February 27, 2026, his family shared the following update regarding Neil Sedaka’s passing. “Our family is devastated by the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Neil Sedaka. A true rock and roll legend, an inspiration to millions, but most importantly, at least to those of us who were fortunate enough to know him, an incredible human being who will be deeply missed."

It is believed that after feeling unwell, the star was taken to hospital by paramedics, who arrived following a medical request call. The 86-year-old’s latest post on
“Good times, good music and good friends” – that’s always been my philosophy! This track is featured on Steppin’ Out, available April 10th. I can’t wait to share it with you again,” he wrote alongside one of his clips. Now, the post has become a garden of warm memories for fans, who are writing condolence messages and tributes on his demise.
Neil Sedaka was inducted into the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1983, and also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978. They had 9 Billboard Hot 100 top 10 songs, three of which peaked at number one.
