Samsung says don’t expect Galaxy S25 Edge, Trifold sequel anytime soon
If you’ve been holding your breath for the Galaxy S26 Edge, Samsung has an update for you. The company has confirmed that it is in no rush to launch a sequel to the Galaxy S25 Edge. The same could be true of the Galaxy Z Trifold sequel.

If you’ve been waiting for Samsung to launch the Galaxy S26 Edge, it looks like you’ll have to wait a little longer. The company has just confirmed that it is not planning a successor to its ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge phone any time soon. Trifold 2 is also not in the works, at least not yet. But Samsung will let you know that both devices are not completely canceled. At the time of writing they are not a priority.

The information comes straight from the horse’s mouth. In an interview with Bloomberg, Won-Joon Choi, president and COO of Samsung’s MX division, confirmed that the company is not planning to release the Galaxy S26 Edge or Galaxy Z Trifold 2 in the near future, although he did not completely rule out the future possibilities of both devices. A senior Samsung official has also explained the reason behind this move in detail.
As for the Galaxy S26 Edge, you can blame the poor sales as the main reason why Samsung is adopting a wait-and-see strategy. The Galaxy S25 Edge hasn’t performed as well as some of Samsung’s more mainstream Galaxy S-series phones like the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra and so, “We haven’t made a decision on when to launch next, but it’s still under consideration,” Choi told Bloomberg.
Not just the Galaxy S25 Edge, even Apple’s iPhone Air, which is built around the same “thin and light” template, is not selling like hot cakes. According to many reports, the future of iPhone Air 2 is also uncertain.
Speaking about the Galaxy Z Trifold, Choi said that the triple-folding device is like an R&D flex that shows Samsung’s engineering strength. The problem here is that its price was very high which made it out of reach of many buyers, which is why its availability was limited. Samsung did not launch the Trifold in India at all, even though it is one of its biggest markets. It was recently released in the US and has been out of stock soon after its launch.
While the TriFold 2 may not be coming soon, Samsung is reportedly working on a new wide-screen Galaxy Z Fold and plans to launch it soon. The Wide Fold is said to be in response to Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, which is likely to have a wider screen and no or minimal crease in the middle. More information is awaited.
