In the closing moments of the interview, Eric was left alone with the camera to deliver a final, intimate message to his daughters, 15-year-old Billie and 14-year-old Georgia. He shared, “Billy and Georgia, these words are for you. I tried. I faltered sometimes, but I tried. Overall, we had a blast, right?”
The actor also got emotional while remembering family trips to Mexico, Hawaii and the beaches of Santa Monica. Reflecting on those memories, he said, “I now watch you spend hours playing in the ocean, my water children. Those days, as it has been said, were heaven. I want to tell you four things I have learned from this disease, and I hope you don’t just listen to me. I hope you listen to me.”
Eric focused his guidance on the importance of staying grounded in the present moment. He admitted that he had previously wasted a lot of time “wandering and worrying in self-pity, shame and doubt”. Reflecting on his past, he regrets his tendency to obsessively second-guess his choices and replay decisions in his mind.
In his first lesson, Eric urged his daughters to focus on living in the present moment. Her second piece of advice was for them to seek love in its many forms – making it clear that this didn’t necessarily mean finding a romantic partner solely for the sake of it, but rather finding a deep passion or something that brought them real happiness.

He mentioned that he can no longer do any of the things he used to do, such as going to the gym, walking around town, and drinking coffee, but he is grateful to his friends for just showing up.
In his final advice, Eric urged his daughters to fight with everything they have and never surrender. He told them, “Finally, fight with every part of your being and with dignity. When you face challenges, health or otherwise, fight. Never give up. Fight till your last breath. This disease is slowly taking over my body, but it will never take away my soul.”
Eric noted that although his daughters are unique individuals, they both have inherent strength and resiliency. Referring to this characteristic as his “superpower”, he commented, “I bounce back right away, and I keep coming back. I hope I’ve demonstrated that you can face anything. You can face the end of your days. You can face hell with dignity. Fight girls, and keep your heads held high Billy and Georgia, you are my heart. You are my everything. Good night. I love you. These are my last words.”
Eric, 53, died after a year-long ALS battle. His family sought privacy as they mourn the beloved actor’s passing. The late actor was last seen in the American comedy-thriller Limit.
