India Today Group, in partnership with BharatZen, has unveiled AI-assisted Anchor Sutra. The AI anchor has been deployed to provide relevant and relevant news from the India AI Impact Summit.

India Today Group has unveiled a new AI-powered news anchor formula at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Developed in collaboration with BharatGen and showcased by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Sutra is designed to report and navigate complex, real-time information through concise summaries and relevant insights from the AI Impact Summit.
This initiative is an important step in the Group’s commitment to integrate advanced technology within a rigorous editorial framework. Using models developed through the BharatGen initiative, Sutra aims to bridge the gap between high-level policy discussions and public understanding by providing real-time information from key summit sessions.
One of the key features of the formula is its foundation in the ‘AI sandwich’ approach. This is a news protocol endorsed by Kalli Puri, Vice President and Executive Editor, India Today Group. This protocol ensures that AI remains a helpful tool for journalists and news reporting, with human editorial intent at the beginning and final human verification at the end.
“Our aim with Sutra is to provide clarity in the fast-paced news cycle,” said Nilanjan Das, Chief AI Officer, India Today Group. “By working with BharatZen, we are exploring how AI can be leveraged to make information more accessible and inclusive to a wider audience, while maintaining the editorial standards that India Today Group is known for.”
Rishi Bal, CEO, BharatZen, said, “BharatZen is a pioneering sovereign, multimodal model that understands the natural nuances of Indian languages and regional dialects. By providing indigenous AI capabilities, we are ensuring that the future of Indian journalism is driven by technology that is culturally aware, linguistically inclusive and built entirely on home soil.”
