Pirated DVD of Dhurandhar being sold for Rs 16 in Pakistan, viral video surfaced

Pirated versions of Dhurandhar are being sold at low prices in Pakistan, even though the film is officially banned there. A video showing the same is now going viral on social media.

India-based YouTuber Carl Rock recently discovered pirated copies of the Indian film stalwart It is being sold at Rainbow Center in Karachi, which is known for pirated content. Despite the ban on Indian films in Pakistan, the film was available for only PKR 50 (approximately Rs 16), which surprised many who watched Rock’s video online.

In the video, Rock expressed surprise, ‘Indian films are banned in Pakistan, but look what I got.’ The shopkeeper confirmed, “It’s an Indian film, Dhurandhar. It was released recently.” When Rock asked about the price, the seller replied, “Sir, it is for PKR 50 (INR 16).”

Indian social media users reacted with surprise, especially about CDs and pendrives still being used for pirated movies in Pakistan. One commented, “A movie bashing Pakistan is being liked in Pakistan, lol.” Another said, “Still selling pirated movies is crazy… still remember about 15 years ago my cousin brought CDs of pirated movies.”

Others said, “The film is banned by the Pakistan government, but it is being pirated normally, and it is also a top trending Netflix film. Get it.” Some were surprised that physical media such as CDs and pendrives remained popular, with one commenting, “We can still buy movies on pendrives and CDs in Pakistan? This trend took over here at least 10 years ago. Strange.”

The film also stars Ranveer Singh, whose family is of Sindhi origin and moved to India from Pakistan during Partition.

After the success of stalwartsequel, title Dhurandhar: Revenge, It is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 19.
