China’s Seidance 2 AI video goes viral, people say Hollywood is now in danger
There’s a new AI model in town from China and it’s giving Hollywood a run for its money. ByteDance’s latest generative AI model, CDance 2.0, is helping users create highly realistic videos with cinematic shots. It’s so good at its job that many have already started calling it the “Hollywood killer.”

the race is on. Between China and America. The arena is AI. The latest hit coming out of China is Cdance 2.0, an AI video model that creates cinematic shots so good that it’s gone viral on social media and many people, even those who know their A’s and I’s well, are calling it a leap forward that should shake up Hollywood. Sedans 2.0, which is not yet publicly available but has limited access, looks so good that within hours of its arrival, X has been flooded with sample videos of it.
Seeing what SeeDance 2.0 can do, many X users are saying “Hollywood is ripe”, claiming that now anyone can create Hollywood-like movie videos.
What is Sedans 2.0, why the hype?
AI video tools are improving at a rapid pace and CDance 2.0 appears to be the most capable tool yet, especially when it comes to cinematic scenes. It was created by TikTok’s parent company ByteDance. The model was officially launched as a limited beta on the Jimeng AI platform on February 10, 2026.
This new model allows users to create short cinematic clips, typically between 4 and 15 seconds, using a mix of text prompts, images, video references, and even audio input. But unlike earlier text-to-video tools, which often produced glitchy or unrealistic results, this model appears to handle motion, lighting, framing, and character stability far better. According to the company behind it, this is due to the director level of control that the tool gives users.
This level of control, combined with the AI model’s ability to keep characters, lighting and scenery consistent across all shots, is driving excitement online. Users testing Seadance 2.0 are sharing clips with seamless camera movements and dramatic scenes that look surprisingly close to real studio productions.
Hollywood is ripe
On X, users are posting videos created by Seadance 2.0 that look straight out of a Hollywood movie. Some clips feature Kanye West-style music videos with dramatic lighting and performance shots, while others feature over-the-top action sequences ranging from Will Smith fighting a giant spaghetti monster to absurd blockbusters like Godzilla vs. a Little Cat.
“Tom Cruise vs Brad Pitt has been created using SeiDance 2.0. The consistency, accuracy and details of the character are very real. Hollywood is ready,” one user wrote on X, praising the AI model.

While many users are praising how advanced the sedan’s video generation looks, there is also growing concern. Many people are raising concerns about copyright and regulation. For example, Justine Moore, partner at a major US venture capital firm, reported that she sees unregulated use of AI models and the copyright implications involved.

There are also broader legal and ethical questions, particularly around AI-generated clips that resemble real actors or mimic established franchises. Users are raising concerns about copyright, consent, and the risk of deepfakes.
Despite this, Cdance 2.0 is making a strong impression and showing how quickly AI video tools are advancing, and giving a glimpse of what the future of filmmaking could look like.
