Ranbir Kapoor rejects his distant father’s model, discusses being daughter Raha’s friend

Ranbir Kapoor has opened up about how fatherhood has changed him and how he is forging his own path as a parent and a member of the Kapoor family legacy. After the birth of his daughter Raha, he shared how his perspective differs from previous generations. Kapoor discussed these topics while being announced as the new brand ambassador of a heritage jewelery brand.

He said, “There was a bit of distance between me and my father in our relationship; it was not like a friendship, because that generation was like that; there was a glass wall. But now, in a different way with my child, I want to break that glass wall. I want to be his friend, give him wings to fly in whatever direction he wants.”

He also addressed the Kapoor legacy by stressing the importance of an individualistic approach: “Once you know you come from a family of achievers, the next generation doesn’t succeed on previous achievements. You have to take an individualistic approach, your own thought process, bring something new. If you are just copy-pasting what your ancestors have done, there will be a saturation point somewhere. So I think that’s the intention – you really need to have a feeling, a sense of heritage and You have to have emotion. If you truly have it, no one can stop you.”
