Introduction

Infinix may not be a household name everywhere, but the Chinese brand has already gained immense popularity in some markets. As one of Transcen’s phone brands, along with TECNO and itel, Infinix has a major market presence in several African countries as well as Southeast Asia and South Asia. Interestingly, you can also find the Infinix device in some European countries like France, Poland, Czech Republic, and Romania. So we were curious to know more about its latest device – the Infinix Note Edge.

The company actually ran quite a campaign about the Note Edge. We first saw the Note Edge in an attractive bright orange color. Unfortunately, that color is absent from the final official lineup. Still, the available Lunar Titanium, Silk Green, Stellar Blue, and Shadow Black look interesting enough in their own right.

In keeping with Infinix’s usual MO, the Note Edge is a budget device with a starting price of $200. Still, Infinix tried its best to provide good value. It’s frankly impressive how few compromises modern budget phones actually have to make to reach their price point.

The Note Edge is an IP65-certified device with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on the top of its display. Speaking of the said display, it’s an aggressively curved 6.78-inch panel with a high 1208 x 2644 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, very high advertised brightness of up to 4,500 nits, and AMOLED insides. There is a 6,500 mAh battery or a 6,150 mAh battery (capacity depends on the market) on board with 45W charging support. You also get JBL-tuned stereo speakers.

Other highlights include the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset, 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of non-expandable storage, as well as the promise of three major OS updates and five years of security patches.

The camera setup is nothing to call home about, but the 50MP main camera still has enough power on paper to deliver good shots. There are some other interesting bits and pieces here and there, which all add value, like the FM radio receiver, IR blaster and NFC.

unbox

The Infinix Note Edge comes in a very sturdy two-piece and two-tone cardboard box. As mentioned, this is a very thick cardboard, which is enough to keep the phone safe. You also get a cradle on the inside for the phone, which is nice for added shipping protection, but we don’t appreciate that it’s made of plastic.

The accessory package is very rich by today’s standards. Well, maybe not in the EU, where rules prevent Infinix from including a charger in the box. However, you should get one in most other markets.

Inside the box there is a 45W Infinix-branded charger with USB Type-A interface. The charger is proprietary and a USB Type-A to Type-C cable is also included in the box. You’ll need to keep an eye on both to ensure they’re charging at full speed. Plus, you also get a very nice soft TPU case and a glass screen protector in the box, so you can start using your shiny new phone right away.
