Superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are all set to share the screen after decades. Amidst the reunion of Tamil cinema legends, a promo shoot for the project is said to have been completed recently. Now it is being told that in this glimpse, the two legends will be seen together in an old style presentation of the 1980s.
Did the makers of Thalaivar174 x KH238 create an 80s style promo?
According to a report in Valai Pechu, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan recently completed an 80s-style promo shoot for their upcoming film. Reportedly, in the promo, both the actors are seen going on a car ride together in vintage look.
It is being said that the promo shows Rajinikanth in his signature style tossing the car keys towards Kamal Haasan, and Kamal catching them in the air before the two get into the vehicle together. As soon as they sit inside the car with the trademark swagger, they set off on an adventurous ride.
However, this remains a report as of now, as no official confirmation has been released by the manufacturers.
Earlier reports had suggested that the upcoming film would be a light-hearted slice-of-life drama. The film is said to focus on the friendship between the two central characters, offering a new perspective on their dynamics.
The upcoming film will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, with reports indicating that the promo will be used to introduce the concept of the film on OTT platforms. Additionally, there is speculation that the promo shoot took place on two sets, one in a hotel and the other in a mechanic’s workshop.
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan’s work front
Rajinikanth will next be seen in the lead role in Jailer 2. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film will see Mohanlal and Shiv Rajkumar reprising their roles and will also star Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty in pivotal roles.
In an earlier interview, Mithun Chakraborty had hinted that the film may include a cameo appearance by Shah Rukh Khan. However, no official confirmation has been made by the makers yet. Additionally, actress Nora Fatehi is expected to appear in a special dance number.
Although the premiere date has not been announced yet, the makers are reportedly aiming for a mid-2026 release.
Looking ahead, Rajinikanth will next start work on a film tentatively titled Thalaivar173. The project is going to be co-produced by Kamal Haasan under the banner of Raaj Kamal Films International and will be directed by Don fame Siby Chakraborty.
Initially, the project was announced to be led by director Sundar C. However, due to prior commitments, the filmmaker later backed out of the project.
Kamal Haasan, on the other hand, will next be seen in the lead role in the tentatively titled KH237 directed by Anbariv duo.
