Oakley and Meta’s Vanguard smart AI glasses are finally available in India. The glasses, built specifically for athletes and adventure seekers, were announced at Meta Connect in September last year. The price of Oakley Meta Vanguard in India has been set at Rs 52,300. This makes it Meta’s most premium smart glasses product in the country.
What is Oakley Meta Vanguard?
The Vanguard is a special edition of Meta glasses made for athletes and adventure seekers. This means that everything about these goggles, be it the design and feature set, is built for high performance in adverse environments. Plus, these glasses come with special lenses – with prism technology – that make them resistant to sun glare and other disturbances like wind and water.
In terms of specifications and what they can do, the Vanguard features a 12-megapixel POV (point-of-view) camera, which allows users to capture moments like a marathon race or a paragliding experience. The lens has a 122-degree field-of-view and is capable of recording video at up to 3K resolution with slow motion, hyperlapse, and adjustable stabilization.
The glasses have open-ear speakers designed to deliver loud audio making them suitable for use in noisy outdoor environments. You also get a five-microphone setup with Meta AI that helps reduce wind noise during calls, messages, and voice interactions.
Users can track their progress, set goals, and get performance summaries. By simply asking, “Hey Meta, what’s my heart rate?” or “Hey Meta, how am I?” The glasses will provide real-time information allowing users to instantly check metrics like heart rate or speed without slowing down or looking away.
The AI Glasses are packed with a battery that is rated to deliver up to nine hours of usage and six hours of continuous audio playback. It includes a charging case that provides an additional 36 hours. Fast charging is supported, charging the battery up to 50 percent in just 20 minutes.
Like other Meta glasses, Vanguard also gets UPI Lite payments, supported by Hindi language with hands-free voice interaction. These new meta features bring more localized and practical capabilities.
In terms of color options, the AI glasses are available in black with yellow-gold lenses, white with dark lenses, black with red-blue lenses and white with sapphire lenses. The AI glasses are also IP67-rated.
