Mardaani 3 box office first day: Rani Mukherjee’s police thriller earns Rs 3.48 crore
Rani Mukherjee’s thriller Mardaani 3 collected Rs 3.48 crore on the first day. Despite Rani’s return as the fiery policewoman Shivani Shivaji Roy, the film grossed less than its prequel Mardaani 2.

The actress returns to the silver screen as the fearless Shivani Shivaji Roy in Rani Mukherjee’s cop-thriller Mardaani 3. According to initial estimates, the film earned Rs 3.48 crore on the first day in India.
Mardaani 3 grossed much less than its previous installment, Mardaani 2. The 2019 film collected Rs 3.8 crore on its opening day. As per Sacknilk’s report, Mardaani 3 is currently running with 2,299 shows across multiple territories. The average occupancy is reported to be 13.6%.
IndiaToday.in, in its review of the film, wrote, “macho 3 It may not be the fastest weapon in the franchise, but it remains an essential weapon. It’s angry in the right places, flawed in the usual ways, and driven by a conviction that refuses to soften for comfort.”
Rani plays the fierce policeman Shivani Shivaji Roy in the high-stakes crime thriller Mardaani 3. Produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, the film’s release holds special significance as it marks the actress’s 30th anniversary in the Indian film industry.
Directed by Abhiraj Minwala and written by Ayush Gupta, the third installment follows Shivani as she traces 93 young girls who have gone missing over a period of three months. The sequel also stars Janaki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad in lead roles.
The franchise has consistently explored important topics affecting Indian society. The first film investigated human trafficking, while the second focused on violent crimes against women. Reflecting on her journey, Rani previously shared, “As long as there are stories to tell and emotions to explore, I will remain a student of this beautiful, demanding art,” adding that even after 30 years, she is “ready to work hard, face new challenges and begin a new chapter.”
Mardaani 3 was released theatrically on 30 January 2026.
