Actress Amrita Khanwilkar has said that despite working in the entertainment industry for years, she could not save herself from being stereotyped. He mentioned that he still faced stigma as a Marathi actor, but he decided to ignore it.

In an interview with Khanwilkar Indian ExpressSaid, “I still face some stigma. I often hear that you are a Marathi actor. So what? I will work somewhere, okay? I just ignore it. You will be told that you are overexposed or you come with baggage because you are a star on TV. These things are said; it is like comments about being from the Marathi industry, there is no end to it. Some actors choose to speak about it, I choose to ignore it. I choose.”

The actor admitted that although there is still work to be done, the industry has made significant progress. He highlighted that many of the old restrictions and rigid norms are finally beginning to change.

“And I think this generation of actors has become very accepting. Earlier, there were a lot of norms and restrictions, like once a female artiste gets married, her career is over; it was believed that if you play a secondary character, you will never be offered a lead role, but that never happens. Another myth was that if you have done TV, you can’t do films. With time, all these norms have changed. As a female artiste, many people are often It used to be said that if I want to be a heroine, I have to be a certain weight. Now, times have changed and it’s a great time to be an artiste or an influencer.”

Khanwilkar was recently seen in Neeraj Pandey’s heist-thriller taskery. The Netflix show also stars actors Emraan Hashmi, Nandish Singh Sandhu, Anurag Sinha and others in important roles.

He is also involved in the show JioHotstar Space General Chandrayaan Nakuul Mehta, Shriya Saran, Prakash Belawadi, Danish Sait and others are in lead roles.
